Overview

Vital is a women's satefy app designed to empower women to stay connected and stay safe whenever they are.

After a conversation with a friend, I was inspired to design an app which provide women with a comprehensive platform that helps protect them against potential threats and risks. In a world where women's safety is an ongoing concern, Vital is designed to empower women by giving them the tools they need to feel safe and secure. Some of the important features include panic buttons, fake call simulation, location monitoring, and emergency contacts.
Problem statement
Malaysia has seen rising concerns about women's safety, with incidents of harassment and violence. There's a need for a comprehensive solution that enables women to feel safer and more confident while navigating through their daily routines.
Target audience
  • Women of All Ages: Targeting women across various age groups who live in or visit Malaysia. This includes young adults, working professionals, mothers, and senior citizens.
  • Urban Dwellers: Particularly focusing on women residing in urban areas where safety concerns might be more prevalent due to higher population density and diverse commuting options.
  • Frequent Travelers: Women who frequently commute, use public transportation, or travel alone, addressing their safety needs during these activities.
  • Students: University or college-going women who might benefit from safety features during commutes or late-night campus activities.
  • Working Professionals: Women employed in different sectors who might face safety concerns during their daily commute or while working late hours.
  • Tourists or Visitors: Women visiting Malaysia, either as tourists or for business, who might not be familiar with the local safety protocols or areas.
DESIGN GOALS
  • User-Centric Approach: Prioritise the user's needs, concerns, and experiences throughout the design process to create a solution tailored to Malaysian women's safety requirements.
  • Intuitive and Accessible Design: Develop a user interface that is easy to navigate and understand, ensuring that women of various demographics and technological proficiency can use the app effectively.
  • Empowerment and Confidence: Design features that empower women to feel more confident and secure in their daily activities, fostering a sense of control over their safety.
  • Efficient Emergency Assistance: Enable quick access to emergency services with minimal effort, allowing users to seek help promptly in distress situations.
  • Discreet and Subtle Alerts: Implement features that allow users to send distress signals discreetly, without drawing unwanted attention, ensuring safety without escalating potential threats.
